This is a print set of the pen and ink illustrations "Hi mo-yok’ mok: pah-ha(No, He is not dead: #3 & #4)" telling the story of the two large black ravens first seen by Spanish explorers when visiting the island of PIMU, recorded in the the diary of Father Antonio de la Ascension:

“According to the journal of Father Antonio de la Ascension, this was a place of worship or a temple where natives perform their sacrifices and adorations. This was a large flat patio with feathers of various colors and shapes…When the soldiers reached this place, inside the circle there were two large crows larger than the ordinary ones, which flew away when they saw the strangers, and alighted on some near-by rocks. One of the soldiers, seeing their size, aimed at them with his harquebus, and discharging it, killed them both. When the Indians saw this they began to weep and display great emotion (Wagner 1928:351).”

You will receive a pair of giclee prints measuring 11" x 14" each and both will be signed.
